Red Book with Lin Biao's Prologue |
There were many Mao's red books, however one with Lin Biao's prologue is a rarity.By 1971 the majority of items depicting Mao and Lin Biao together were confiscated because of Lin's fall from power and his death while allegedly fleeing to Russia. The circumstances of Lin's fall and his death are still in dispute, but he was declared a traitor and removed from memory, erased from official photographs and histories. By 1978, the government issued a law requiring all citizens to turn in their Cultural Revolution items to designated central recycling centers, and most of these items were destroyed. As a result, genuine items depicting Lin and Mao together are few and far between. This red book containing more than one quotations from Lin Biao and makes a wonderful Cultural Revolution Memorabilia item. | |

| D0021 | Cultural Revolution Poster #20 | This large propaganda poster design was first published in February 1962 by Shanghai Xi-Hua printing house, written by an author named "Ha Jing Wen". This poster was printed by Shanghai No. 1 Printing Company five years later in February 1966, just in time for China's Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution. As evidenced on the lower right corner of this poster, only 100,000 copies were ever printed, sold for a price of 11 Chinese "fen", or cents, during that period. Forty years later, this poster, though showing its age, still evokes an era when anti-American sentiment was brewing, and a propaganda war was ignited throughout China. In red large characters, were four words that said the following "America Imperialism must be defeated." |
